Bug Rhymes Books was started in 2008 by Alan and Linda Shue to publish the children’s stories that Alan started writing that summer.
Because all the stories were about bugs, and the stories were all written in rhyming verse, the name Bug Rhymes Books (BRB) seemed just right for our small publishing company.
Author and publisher for BRB, Alan has a not-so-secret love for books and the written word. In addition to writing children’s stories, over the years Alan has written a great deal of poetry for family, holidays, or just for fun.
As a contrast, during his career in Information Technology, Alan wrote thousands of pages of business analysis, information system design, and software user instructions.
So, a little right brain here … a little left brain there … add in some bugs, goofiness and imagination, and you have the origins of Bug Rhymes Books.
Alan is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI) and the Pacific Northwest Writers Association (PNWA) of Western Washington. Alan also participates in the local Olympia Writers Group in Olympia, WA.
Linda is the creative director for BRB and is instrumental in ensuring that illustrations for Bug Rhymes stories are as good as they can be. She brings a lifetime love of reading and a natural instinct for aesthetics to her role of making Bug Rhymes stories and products appeal to both kids and adults alike.
Elisa is the illustrator for Chee The Flea and Tweeter and Jeeter. For more about Elisa and to see examples of her art work, visit her Tir Na Nog Designs Facebook page.
